toothpick fine motor skill activity

We’ve continued doing montessori activities but I have totally been slacking on taking pictures of them. This one we did in early May and it’s a fine motor skill activity.
What you need:
- toothpicks (or pipe cleaners might be easier to start with)
- a parmesan sprinkle jar or an empty spice container (with holes in the lid)
I demonstrated putting the first toothpick through a hole and then let Emmet get to work. He nailed it! Look at that face all focused. This boy was doing WORK! I gave him five toothpicks and once they were all in I opened the jar and let him do it all over again. He did this several times before being ready to move on.

Soon he was all, “Oh I can do this one-handed mom. No biggie.”

Look at the focused face!! Haha, I love seeing them concentrate so intently – it really is adorable. This is a great activity and really nice to use everyday household items. Thanks for sharing
