Toddler drawing – it’s messy

We draw with crayons regularly and have recently added a new media to the mix, dry erase markers and a dry erase book.  The book has pictures of farm animals, vegetables and tractors.  It’s really for bigger kids to practice drawing shapes and letters but I’ve found that Emmet really enjoys drawing on top of the pictures.  So that is what we do.

These drawings can’t be hung on the wall to admire, but they have another perk.  He can wipe them clean himself so it’s a great practical life activity too!  A word of advice, do this naked.  Dry erase marker is not easy to get out of clothes…

I love the look of concentration on Emmet’s face! It’s fun to watch them work on their “art.”

We love the washable markers since Kale has a tendency to write on everything BUT the paper! They come out of clothes and off the furniture (and walls) really easily.

We did fingerpainting not too long ago, in the backyard, diaper only, with a smock on. We both still ended up covered in paint. That’s what the garden hose is for!

I’ll have to try giving Nora crayons and a sketch book again soon. Tried a few months ago and she had very little interest.
